Pottyline vs. other Bay Area porta potty companies

Comparison

Pottyline vs. United Site Services: how Bay Area porta potty rental compares

Quick answer

United Site Services is a national provider with 140+ US locations that bundles porta potties, restroom trailers, fencing and dumpsters, quoted on request. Pottyline is an owner-operated Hayward company that publishes all-in prices from $189 a month, books online 24/7 and sends a photo after every service. This page compares both, checked October 2026.

Quick comparison

Both companies rent porta potties, handwash stations and restroom trailers to Bay Area construction sites and events. The differences are in how you buy: what is published, how you book, and what proof you get afterward. Every United Site Services (USS) entry below comes from its public website, checked October 2026; "not published" means the pages we checked do not say, not that the service does not exist. What United Site Services does well

Scale is the headline. The USS home page states 140+ US locations, 75K+ current customers and 300K+ inventory items, and the San Jose location page calls its fleet the largest in the industry. A general contractor with projects in Phoenix, Denver and San Jose can run them all through one vendor and one portal.

The product bundle is the second strength. The San Jose page lists 8 portable restroom products, 3 handwashing stations, 2 holding tanks, 6 restroom trailers, 4 temporary fence products and 2 temporary power products, and the home page adds roll-off dumpsters. Few Bay Area vendors can put toilets, fence, power and dumpsters on one purchase order.

The MyUSS portal is the third. Per the portal guide, customers can request quotes, access invoices, view service schedules, track service requests and manage AutoPay. For a multi-site account that is a real administrative convenience, and USS says it has been doing this for more than two decades.

Where Pottyline is different

We started Pottyline because Edgar, who ran Bay Area job sites as a site manager and contractor, got tired of waiting two days for a quote and never knowing whether the service truck had come. The seven things below are the direct answer to that, framed for the buyer USS serves best: a project manager with a budget to defend.

  1. Prices on the screen, all-in. Our pricing page and the ZIP calculator at pottyline.com/#quote show the number you will be invoiced: delivery, pickup, weekly service on construction rentals, consumables and tax, within 25 miles of Hayward. A standard unit is $189 per 28 days.
  2. Book and pay online, 24/7. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or ACH. Approved contractors get Net-30 with one consolidated monthly invoice instead of a charge at delivery.
  3. Proof of service. Every visit is photographed, GPS-stamped and timestamped, and the record is texted to you. Agencies can export the log as a PDF.
  4. Compliance in the quote. Enter your crew size and the calculator applies Cal/OSHA 8 CCR §1526 and §1527: 1 toilet and 1 handwash per 20 workers, and the AB 521 women's designated unit. Event sizing adds ADA at 5%.
  5. 24/7 AI assistant on the site that prices and books in English, Spanish or Chinese.
  6. Trilingual site and phone support, which matters on crews where the foreman's first language is Spanish or Mandarin.
  7. The owner answers the phone, and he has stood on the job site side of this order.

None of this requires USS to be bad at anything. It is a different operating model: a 25-mile zone from Hayward with published numbers, versus a national network with quoted numbers.

Pricing side by side

USS publishes no prices on the pages we checked, so its column is "request a quote" throughout. Our prices are the all-in figures from the pricing page, within 25 miles of Hayward. Bay Area market rates for a standard construction unit run $150 to $230 per month; see the price index for the sourced ranges.

When to choose United Site Services

  • Multi-state or multi-region projects. One national account across 140+ locations is something a Hayward yard cannot match today.
  • Toilets plus fence plus dumpsters plus power on one PO. USS lists all four product lines; we do not rent dumpsters.
  • Very large unit counts. If a stadium build or a county fair needs more units than a small operator can stage, a 300K-item inventory is the safer bet.
  • Your company already runs on MyUSS and procurement does not want a second vendor portal.

When to choose Pottyline

  • You want the price before you call. Our number is on the page and the calculator gives the exact figure for your ZIP, including the San Jose and Oakland delivery status.
  • You need proof the truck came. A photo with GPS and time after every service, by text, with PDF logs for agencies.
  • Cal/OSHA sizing without a spreadsheet. The quote already applies §1526, §1527 and AB 521; the construction page walks through the math for a 15-, 40- and 100-person crew.
  • Net-30 and one invoice for approved contractors, instead of AutoPay at delivery.
  • A Spanish- or Chinese-speaking site contact who can book, change a service day or read the invoice in their own language.
  • Events under about 600 guests within the 25-mile zone, where our event pricing is flat and published.

Frequently asked questions

Is United Site Services cheaper than Pottyline?

We cannot say, because United Site Services does not publish prices; its site routes every product to a quote request, checked October 2026. Pottyline publishes every price: a standard porta potty is $189 per 28 days or $195 per event, all-in within 25 miles of Hayward. Request a USS quote, then compare it line by line against our pricing page.

Does United Site Services publish porta potty prices online?

No. On unitedsiteservices.com, checked October 2026, porta potties, restroom trailers, fences and dumpsters all lead to a Get a Quote form, and the San Jose location page lists product counts but no dollar figures. Pottyline shows the price for every product on the pricing page and in the ZIP calculator, including delivery, weekly service and tax.

What does the MyUSS portal do, and what does Pottyline offer instead?

MyUSS, per its own guide page, lets customers request quotes, access invoices, view service schedules, track service requests and manage AutoPay, which bills at delivery. Pottyline offers online booking and payment by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or ACH, Net-30 with one consolidated invoice for approved contractors, and a photo, GPS stamp and timestamp texted after every service visit.

Which company is better for a multi-state construction project?

United Site Services, with 140+ US locations and a single national account, fits a contractor running sites in several states. Pottyline serves the 8 Bay Area counties from its Hayward yard and plans to expand later. For a Bay Area site, compare the all-in monthly price, the photo proof of service and Net-30 terms before deciding.

Does United Site Services offer Cal/OSHA sizing or a women's unit?

Its pages checked in October 2026 do not state a Cal/OSHA toilet ratio or list an AB 521 women's designated unit, so put both down as not published rather than unavailable. Pottyline's quote applies 8 CCR 1526 and 1527, 1 toilet and 1 handwash per 20 workers, and offers a keyed women's unit for $199 per month.

Can I rent fencing and dumpsters from Pottyline like I can from United Site Services?

Partly. Pottyline rents 6 by 12 foot temporary fence panels at $35 per panel per month with a 10-panel minimum, 7 kW generators and 250-gallon holding tanks, but not roll-off dumpsters. United Site Services lists roll-off dumpsters as a core product line. If one invoice for toilets, fence and dumpsters matters most, USS covers it.
