Delivery across Alameda County

Alameda County is the one county where every city we serve is inside the 25-mile included zone, because our yard is in Hayward at mile zero. The miles below are from the yard, and the price you see online already includes delivery, pickup, weekly service on 28-day rentals, consumables and tax.

Three corridors cover the county. I-880 along the bay reaches San Leandro, Oakland, Alameda and Emeryville to the north and Union City, Newark and Fremont to the south. I-580 over the Dublin grade covers Castro Valley, Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore, and I-80 takes the truck on to Berkeley. The Alameda tubes carry our box truck but not a trailer with an 8-ft-wide luxury restroom; trailers reach the island over the Park Street or High Street bridges. Livermore is at exactly 25 miles, so ZIPs 94550 and 94551 are included, but a vineyard site on Tesla Road east of town can tip past the line; the calculator prices by ZIP and tells you.

Order by 2 PM for guaranteed next-day delivery ($95), or pick any date in the calculator for standard delivery at no charge. We text an arrival window the evening before and again when the truck leaves Hayward.

County rules that apply

  • Hauler registration. California Health and Safety Code 117400 requires chemical-toilet cleaners to register with the county health officer. In this county that is the Alameda County Department of Environmental Health, whose waste-vehicles program registers and inspects hauling vehicles. Pottyline is a registered chemical-toilet hauler; insurance certificates are available on request.
  • Where the waste goes. Every tank pumped in Alameda County goes to the EBMUD Resource Recovery facility at 2020 Wake Avenue in West Oakland, which accepts portable-toilet waste 24/7 under its trucked-waste program. It is 16 miles from our yard, which keeps the service loop short.
  • Events with food. Alameda County Environmental Health's temporary-events rules make the community-event organizer responsible for verifying adequate toilet and handwashing facilities before the event opens; the California standard is 1 toilet per 15 food workers within 200 feet of each booth, with soap and towels at the sinks.
  • Regional parks. The East Bay Regional Park District issues a Special Event Permit for festivals, walkathons, races and organized gatherings on District land, from Lake Chabot in Castro Valley to Shadow Cliffs in Pleasanton.
  • Streets and sidewalks. No permit on private property. Public right-of-way needs the city's own permit: Oakland's Obstruction Permit, and an encroachment permit in the other 12 cities.

Construction in Alameda County

The county's pipeline runs the full range. Oakland has Brooklyn Basin and downtown towers; Fremont's Warm Springs district is adding housing around the BART station; Dublin keeps building east of Tassajara Road; Berkeley and Emeryville are adding student housing and lab space; Alameda Point is converting Navy land to homes; Livermore has industrial and lab work along the I-580 corridor; and Hayward's Mission Boulevard and industrial zones stay busy with tilt-ups and street reconstruction.

Cal/OSHA worked example for a 40-person crew (34 men, 6 women). 8 CCR 1526 requires 1 toilet per 20 employees of each sex: 2 for the men, 1 for the women. 1527 requires 1 handwash station per 20 workers: 2. AB 521 directs Cal/OSHA to require a designated single-user unit for workers who identify as female or nonbinary (verify current adoption status with the OSHSB).

Second standard restroom$1892 units for 34 men

Towers in downtown Oakland and Emeryville use the high-rise crane-lift unit at $329 per month. Every service visit is photographed, GPS-stamped and texted to the superintendent; the log exports to PDF. Ratios and AB 521 details are on the construction page and in the Cal/OSHA toilet guide.

Events in Alameda County

The county's largest outdoor venue is the 267-acre Alameda County Fairgrounds at 4501 Pleasanton Avenue in Pleasanton, which rents its lawns, plaza and halls year-round outside the June fair. Lake Merritt and Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland, the Berkeley Marina and Cesar Chavez Park, Lake Chabot, Shadow Cliffs, Quarry Lakes in Fremont and Crab Cove in Alameda are the regional-park and city-park sites we deliver to most.

Why Alameda County crews and planners choose Pottyline

  • Home county. The yard is in Hayward, so a Fremont or San Leandro service stop is minutes, not a scheduled trip, and a missed-unit callback the same day is realistic.
  • All-in price online: $189 per month or $195 per event against Bay Area market rates of $150 to $230 plus $3 to $4 per mile delivery.
  • The correct Cal/OSHA ratio, 1 per 20 per sex, built into the calculator, with AB 521's women's unit in the $479 pack.
  • Proof of service by text after every visit: photo, GPS, timestamp, exportable PDF for the GC or the city inspector.
  • Short disposal loop: EBMUD in Oakland is 16 miles from the yard, which is why we can run weekly service across all 13 cities without a route surcharge.
  • 2 PM cutoff for next-day delivery, Monday to Saturday, and an owner who answers in English, Spanish or Chinese.

Which Alameda County cities get free delivery?

The farthest, Livermore, is 25 miles from our Hayward yard, exactly at the edge of the included zone. Delivery, pickup and weekly service are in the published price for every one of them.

Who regulates portable toilet haulers in Alameda County?

The Alameda County Department of Environmental Health registers and inspects waste-hauling vehicles under California Health and Safety Code 117400. Waste pumped in the county goes to the EBMUD Resource Recovery facility at 2020 Wake Avenue in Oakland, which accepts chemical-toilet waste 24 hours a day under permit. Pottyline is a registered chemical-toilet hauler and disposes only at permitted facilities.

How many toilets does a construction crew need in Alameda County?

Do I need a permit for porta potties at an Alameda County event?

On private property, no. In an East Bay Regional Park District park, the District issues a Special Event Permit for festivals, races and organized gatherings. If food vendors are present, Alameda County Environmental Health makes the organizer responsible for adequate toilets, with 1 toilet per 15 food workers within 200 feet of booths. City streets need that city's encroachment or obstruction permit.

How fast can you deliver in Alameda County?

Order by 2 PM for guaranteed next-day delivery ($95) to any of the 13 cities. Standard delivery on a date you pick in the calculator is free. Most Alameda County drops are 10 to 40 minutes from our Hayward yard on I-880, I-580 or I-680, so same-week placement is routine, Monday through Saturday, 6 AM to 6 PM.
