How much does it cost to rent a porta potty for a day, a week or a month?
Quick answer
Renting a porta potty from Pottyline costs $195 for one day, and that event rate covers up to 3 days, so a weekend costs the same. A week or a month costs $189 per 28-day cycle with one service visit per week included. Delivery, pickup, consumables and tax are included within 25 miles of Hayward.
Short answer
Porta potty rental in the Bay Area has exactly two prices per unit: an event rate that covers 1 to 3 days, and a 28-day rate that covers everything longer. There is no separate day rate, weekend rate or week rate, and once you see the arithmetic below you will understand why.
| Rental length | Standard porta potty | Luxury flushing (also called deluxe) | ADA / Title 24 accessible | Hand washing station | How it is billed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | $195 | $295 | $325 | $99 | Event rate, covers up to 3 days |
| Weekend (Fri–Mon) | $195 | $295 | $325 | $99 | Event rate |
| 1 week | $189 | $289 | $269 | $129 | One 28-day cycle, 1 weekly service included |
| 28 days | $189 | $289 | $269 | $129 | One 28-day cycle, 4 service visits |
| 3 months (84 days) | $567 | $867 | $807 | $387 | Three 28-day cycles, 12 service visits |
Every figure includes delivery, pickup, consumables and sales tax within 25 miles of our Hayward yard, and the monthly figures include one service visit per week. Spread over 3 days, the $195 event rate is $65 per day; spread over 28 days, the monthly rate is $6.75 per day. The pricing page lists all 13 products and every add-on.
How much does it cost to rent a porta potty for one day?
A standard porta potty costs $195 for one day, and the identical $195 covers up to 3 days. The reason a one-day rental is not cheaper is that the cost of an event rental is almost entirely the two truck trips, not the time the unit spends on your lawn.
What the $195 buys for a one-day rental:
- Delivery on your date (Mon–Sat, 6 AM – 6 PM) and pickup on the agreed day, within 25 miles of Hayward
- A clean standard restroom unit, 44" × 48" × 91", with a 70-gallon tank, fully stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer
- Sales tax
- Online booking 24/7 with card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or ACH
A luxury flushing porta potty for the same day is $295 and adds a foot-pump flush, an interior sink, a mirror and a solar light. An ADA accessible unit is $325. A hand washing station alongside any of them is $99.
Two timing add-ons matter for one-day rentals. Next-day delivery is $95 if you order by 2 PM, and delivery before 6 AM, after 6 PM or on a weekend is $150. Delivering on the Friday before a Saturday event avoids both.
How much is a porta potty for a weekend?
A standard porta potty costs $195 for the weekend, Friday delivery to Monday pickup, because the event rate covers up to 3 days on site. Restroom trailers price the weekend as a block: the 2-stall luxury trailer is $2,495 Fri–Mon and the 4-stall is $3,295.
| Weekend option | Price Fri–Mon | Peak season (May–Oct) | Capacity | Power needed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard porta potty | $195 | $195 | ~50 guests per 4 hours | None |
| Luxury flushing porta potty | $295 | $295 | ~50 guests per 4 hours | None (solar light) |
| 2-stall luxury trailer | $2,495 | $2,869 | Up to 150 guests | Site hookup or 7 kW generator ($750) |
| 4-stall luxury trailer | $3,295 | $3,789 | Up to 300 guests | Site hookup or 7 kW generator ($750) |
| 8-stall luxury trailer | $4,695 | $5,399 | Up to 600 guests | Site hookup or 7 kW generator ($750) |
The peak-season surcharge of 15% applies to trailers only. Single porta potties cost the same in July as in January. For a 120-guest Saturday wedding, three luxury flushing units plus one ADA unit come to $1,210 against $2,495 for the 2-stall trailer; the wedding sizing guide explains when each choice makes sense.
How much does it cost to rent a porta potty for a week?
A standard porta potty costs $189 for a week, which is $6 less than the 3-day event rate. Anything longer than 3 days is billed on our 28-day construction cycle, and a week simply uses the first 7 days of that cycle, including one service visit.
That sounds backwards until you look at what each price is paying for. An event rental is delivered clean and stocked, used hard for a short window and picked up for a full turnaround. A weekly or monthly rental gets the same delivery and pickup plus a service visit every 7 days, and the 28-day cycle is how we schedule that truck. We would rather publish one honest number than invent a "weekly rate" that is really the monthly rate with a different label.
Typical one-week rentals in our area: a kitchen remodel in Fremont where the house has one working bathroom, a week-long film shoot in Oakland, a church festival build-out, or a roofing crew of 4 who need a toilet and a $129 hand washing station to satisfy Cal/OSHA.
How much does a porta potty cost per month?
A standard porta potty costs $189 per 28-day cycle with four weekly service visits included, and that is the rate every construction site in our zone pays. Bay Area market rates for the same unit run $150–$230 per month, usually before delivery and before any per-service charge is added.
| Unit (28-day cycle) | Monthly price | Includes | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard porta potty | $189 | Delivery, pickup, 1 service/week, consumables, tax | Any job site |
| Luxury flushing porta potty | $289 | Same, plus weekly fresh-water refill for flush and sink | Superintendent's unit, long-term offices |
| ADA / Title 24 accessible | $269 | Same | Public-facing sites, agencies |
| Women's designated unit | $199 | Same, keyed lock, signage, sanitary bin | AB 521 construction sites |
| Hand washing station | $129 | Same, 22 gal fresh water refilled weekly | 1 per 20 workers under §1527 |
| High-rise / crane-lift unit | $329 | Same, certified lifting frame, 50-gal tank | Towers, podium decks |
| Cal/OSHA compliance pack | $479 | Standard + women's + handwash, saves $38 | Crews up to 20 |
Cal/OSHA 8 CCR §1526 requires one toilet per 20 employees of each sex, and §1527 requires one washing facility per 20 employees with soap and single-use towels. A 15-person mixed crew therefore needs the compliance pack at $479 per month; a 40-person single-sex crew needs 2 standard units and 2 hand washing stations at $636. Our Cal/OSHA construction guide has worked examples for crews of 5 to 100.
Longer jobs just stack cycles: 3 months is $567, 6 months is $1,134, and approved contractors pay on Net-30 with one consolidated invoice. Every weekly service visit comes with a photo, GPS stamp and timestamp, and agencies can export the log as a PDF.

What changes the price besides rental length?
Distance, delivery timing and service frequency are the only three things that move the price of a standard unit, and each one is a published number rather than a quote-time surprise.
- Distance. Included within 25 miles of Hayward. Beyond that, $3.50 per extra mile each way: San Jose at 28 miles adds about $11, San Francisco at 30 miles about $18, Concord at 33 miles about $28.
- Delivery timing. Next-day delivery $95 (order by 2 PM); off-hours delivery $150.
- Service frequency. A second weekly service is $45 per unit per week. Sites with more than 20 workers per unit or a lunch truck usually need it. Mid-event pump-outs on multi-day festivals are $125 per visit.
- Quantity. The per-unit price is flat. Ten standard units for a 5K race cost $1,950; there is no volume discount and no volume penalty.
- Season. Only trailers carry the May–October 15% surcharge.
- Optional protection. Damage waiver 8% of the rental. Cancellation is free more than 48 hours out and 25% inside 48 hours.

Bay Area specifics
Our trucks leave Hayward every morning and reach 18 cities inside the 25-mile zone, including Oakland, Fremont, Berkeley, Palo Alto, Redwood City, Milpitas, Pleasanton and Livermore. Order by 2 PM and a unit can be on site tomorrow for the $95 next-day fee; standard scheduling needs no fee at all.
Permits by rental length. A porta potty on private property needs no permit for a day or a year. On a public sidewalk or parking lane, San Francisco's Public Works Street Space permit is required for any duration and keeps half the sidewalk clear; Oakland issues an obstruction permit and San Jose an encroachment permit. Event organizers who invite the public also need 5% of units (minimum 1) to be accessible under CBC 11B-213.
Where the waste goes. East Bay routes dispose at EBMUD Resource Recovery in Oakland, which accepts chemical-toilet waste 24/7 under permit; South Bay routes use the City of San Jose portable toilet and septic hauler program. We are a registered chemical-toilet hauler and dispose only at permitted receiving facilities.
Pricing by city. Within the zone the monthly and event prices in the first table are the final prices. For the 12 cities beyond 25 miles, the locations index shows the mileage and the exact delivery adder.

Our standard unit is $189 per month and $195 per event, with delivery, service and tax already inside the number.
Is it cheaper to rent a porta potty for a month than for a week?
They cost the same: $189 covers a 28-day cycle whether you use 7 days or 28, because the price is driven by delivery, pickup and the weekly service truck rather than by the calendar. If your job runs 5 weeks, a second cycle at $189 starts on day 29 and includes its own weekly services; there is no prorated weekly rate.
Does the monthly price include cleaning?
Yes. Every 28-day cycle includes one service visit per week: pump-out of the 70-gallon tank, wash-down and disinfection, deodorizer recharge and restocking of toilet paper and sanitizer. Each visit is photographed, GPS-stamped and texted to you. Crews that need twice-weekly service add $45 per unit per week.
How much does it cost to rent a porta potty for 3 months?
$567 for a standard porta potty, which is three 28-day cycles at $189 each with 12 weekly service visits included. A luxury flushing unit runs $867 and an ADA unit $807 for the same three cycles. Approved contractors can pay on Net-30 terms with a single consolidated invoice each month.
